Fireworks Cosmetics- Mineral Makeup Made in the Heart of the Mid-South!

I recently had the chance to try Fireworks Cosmetics mineral makeup, created and hand-made by Debbie McAlester in Amory, Mississippi.

I stopped using mineral makeup years ago, because when I would use it, my face would itch. (I was using Bare Minerals at the time.) When I heard about Debbie’s eyeshadows from a friend, my interest was piqued. Since she is local, and all of her products are handmade, I knew I had to try it. I am SO glad I did! I am officially hooked! Debbie sent me a few shadows, a blush, foundation, setting powder and some soaps. Let me just tell you, I was amazed at how good all of her products are. Lets look at the makeup she sent!

Mineral Foundation in Medium Light:

I love this foundation. It has yellow undertones with just the tiniest hint of shimmer. It goes on quite easy with a dense powder brush, and the coverage is supreme. I have received many, many compliments on my complexion since starting to use this. It lasts all day, and with a dusting of setting powder, my face looks matte, almost air-brushed, for HOURS. photo 1 (56)photo 5 (32)

Mineral Finishing Powder:

This is a fantastic powder. It is weightless and billowy. It has a slight pink tint to it, but it goes on sheer. It sets my makeup wonderfully. I use it all over my whole face to set mineral foundation, regular liquid foundation, and to set concealer. I have also used it alone over a sillicone based primer, and it gives great coverage in a pinch. It doesn’t take much of this powder either, you just dust it on with a fluffy brush, and go! photo 2 (56)photo 4 (42)

I added a bunch of it to my arm in the second photo, so you could really see it. It does NOT go on that heavy. Just FYI.

Mineral Eyeshadows in Moonstone, Duo Green-Gold, and Honey

These shadows are amazing!photo 1 (54)

Moonstone can be described as nothing short of gorgeous. It is a sheer taupe, with flashes of so many different colors. Green, red, gold, you name it. It is incredible. I have used it almost daily since I got it. photo 2 (55)

Duo Green-Gold is just what it says, a green-gold shade that shifts in the light. I love using this shade on my inner lid- to add shimmer and highlight. It really brightens up your face! It blends nicely with the Moonstone, to create a whole new shade.photo 3 (49)photo 4 (41)

Honey is a GORGEOUS shimmer. It is quite sheer, and like the Duo Green-Gold, it is fabulous for brightening and highlight. It can built up to add serious shimmer, and used wet for a foiled effect.photo 5 (31)

Mineral Blush in Joy.photo 2 (55)photo 1 (55)

I LOVE this shade of blush. It is a matte in a neutral, universal brown/pink color. Out of all of the products, this is the only one I struggle with. I have a hard time getting it even, getting the correct amount of product. This is PURE user error and has nothing to do with the quality of the blush. It is creamy, buildable, and blends out easily if you over-do it. ( like I have many times)  I have also used this as a matte eyeshadow on my lid. It’s just plain beautiful! photo 5 (30)

I am totally impressed and amazed at the quality of this makeup. Debbie makes these in her home, and it is better than the mass market mineral makeup I used to use. Gorgeous colors, awesome quality and it doesn’t itch my skin! I would highly recommend her products to anyone who asks!

Debbie was kind enough to offer my readers a 10% discount. Since I am an avid fan of the Walking Dead, the code is DARYL.

What do you think? Do you use mineral makeup? How do you compare it to other cosmetic products? Let me know what you think!
